Before joining Blue Gate Bank, Charles E. Fenton served as Chief Executive Officer of Tomato Bank, N.A. In his six years at Tomato Bank he helped the company achieve record earnings in 2013, and again in 2014. Prior to Tomato Bank, Mr. Fenton served as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer at California Business Bank in downtown Los Angeles. He later moved to the management team of SoCal Business Bank in 2007. With more than 40 years of banking experience, Mr. Fenton has worked in numerous senior executive management roles, ranging from Branch Manager to Chief Executive Officer, in a variety of locations throughout Los Angeles County.
Mr. Fenton received his economics degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and has served as President of two Southern California Chambers of Commerce.
K. Kaye Kim is an accomplished financial leader with 25 years of banking and private start-up experience. Before joining Blue Gate Bank, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Business Bank in Los Angeles for nearly 10 years. Mrs. Kim successfully grew the de novo bank into one of the top 100 community banks in the nation, leading her peers in profitability and efficiency. Primarily focusing on her role as a financial officer, she has served in many additional senior executive management positions, including Chief Financial Officer for three other community banks.
Mrs. Kim received her Bachelor of Administration degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, and went on to attend Koryo Medical School and ABA Graduate School of Banking. Outside of the office, Mrs. Kim is very active in the greater Los Angeles community.
With more than 35 years of commercial lending experience, Donn Jakosky has held a variety of line, credit and managerial positions. Before joining Blue Gate Bank, Mr. Jakosky served as Chief Credit Officer at both Community Bank (Pasadena, California) and a smaller independent bank in Los Angeles. He began his career with Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago, spent his longest tenure at Sanwa Bank, and also worked for several other banking organizations. He has been in the Southern California banking markets for most of his career.
Mr. Jakosky received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, and remains involved in alumni organizations. He also participates in other public school and community-related volunteer activities.
J. Chris Walsh is a 37-year veteran in the banking industry. Prior to joining Blue Gate Bank, Mr. Walsh served as CEO and President of Sunwest Bank. Mr. Walsh was instrumental in Sunwest Bank’s rapid growth. Under his leadership, the bank more than tripled in size to approximately $820 million in total assets, becoming one of the most profitable banks in Orange County. During his tenure, Mr. Walsh led five FDIC acquisitions and expanded the bank’s presence into Arizona, Idaho, Utah and Washington. Mr. Walsh joined Blue Gate Bank as an Organizer/Founder in February of 2016 and serves as Director of Banking. His primary focus is to oversee all banking activities, focusing on the development of new and existing client relationships, marketing, and banking expansion.
Mr. Walsh graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on economics. He is an involved member of his community, contributing many hours to various civil and charitable organizations. Mr. Walsh resides in San Juan Capistrano, California, with his wife and family.
